INTRODUCTION

This is a movie which centers on the importance of water when it has become a scarce commodity in life. It demonstrates the impact of drought, and triggers the mind on the importance of water and blood relations, and we see people fighting over water in order to maintain their livelihoods and resuscitate lost family ties. Because water has turned into a powerful exchange commodity, the world has been turned into a violent place where water lords are controlling the areas they live in. The law is also coerced into taking sides with the rich who possess water. The fundamental question around the movie is “which is thicker? Water or blood?”

SUMMARY

Three childhood friends have a dream of having water. Going to Maseru is their dream...to have their share of good things that the world has to offer. On arrival to town, the lead (Metsi) is hunted by demons of his past…the memories of his father are not a place of comfort but shame to him. He relates to his past and the present moment.

The three of them (Metsi, Keeper and Yellow Man) find themselves caught up between two rival gangs who are waterlords. They are set up by one lord (Rapeipi) to steal water from the other (Lekhabunyane la Tlokoeng), for survival. They outsmart both gangs, stealing and keeping the water for themselves. They are enemies on the run. No one can protect them.

A man comes to town looking for an albino for voodoo purposes in exchange for water. Yellow Man is willing to sacrifice his life. Is the mystery between blood and water solved?
